A total renovation was required for this beautiful Late Georgian cottage with a rather gloomy sixties extension. We wanted the house to feel contemporary and light, but with a distinct nod to the traditional. We introduced a bespoke glass partition to create a multi-purpose utility room with a work area and downstairs WC. Every corner of the cottage is used to accommodate the family’s needs.

A dining room was added on to the new kitchen, which is flooded with light from a large contemporary roof light and a wall of glass doors, providing an intimate connection to the trees and plants in the patio outside.

This was a total reconfiguration and refurbishment of a very large period property. The brief from our clients was to create a quirky and eclectic family home using personal artefacts that they had acquired over the years.

Thoughtful spatial planning was essential to transform what was essentially a gutted shell of a building into a sumptuous yet informal home, perfect for entertaining.
