Agenda - The Top Events for September

It doesn't get better than September I tell you. Just when you're about to get a little bit depressed that the summer is over the design shows hit London left, right and centre. So grab your agenda and start filling the pages with the top shows to visit for all your design inspo. Grab a friend too, to come along, as the shows are all over London, take time to see and at some point you will get thirsty. You cannot be the one that doesn't hit the bar (especially when organisers go out of their way to make bars look gorgeous in every event!).

FOCUS 16

What: During Focus 16, don't forget to visit Art & Interiors, an exhibition of modern and contemporary art that has inspired 30 leading international designers and will take place at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour between 18 and 23rd September.

Don't miss: Ashley Hicks will be showing the Wall of Plates by Luke Edward Hall (below) while William Yeoward has chosen vases in a Greek key motif by a contemporary artist he met while travelling in the Greek islands. It's going to be big! Registration for FOCUS16 is required.

What: Also around Design centre, you will be able to attend 'Conversations in Design', fascinating talks and lively panel discussions with an all-star line up of designers all sharing insights to the world if interior design. My favourite: Patrizia Moroso, art director of Moroso talks to Living ETC's Suzanne Imre about how a passionate interest in all forms of art drives her ahead of her time. Requires ticket (£10), book here. It is on Wed 21 Sept, at 11:30-12:30pm, Design Club, Third Floor, South Dome, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.

CHRISTIE'S YOUNG HEART EXHIBITION

What: A curated display of works by contemporary artists under 40, presented alongside pieces from Christie’s upcoming design sales. Featured artists include Pablo Bronstein, Kerstin Braetsch, Joe Bradley (above), Ida Ekblad and Math Bass, with design pieces by makers such as Yoichi Ohira and Carlo de Carli. Curated by Luke Edward Hall. Because yes, we can't have enough of him.

When & where: 24-29 September at Christie’s South Kensington, with the contemporary artworks offered in the First Open | Post-War and Contemporary Art | London auction on 29 September. The design works will be sold in the Design sale at Christie’s London on 26 October.

DESIGN JUNCTION

Design Junction takes place in London as part of the London Design Festival in September. More than 200 contemporary brands present their new collections to an international audience of architects, interior designers, retailers and influential press.

When: It takes place in four locations: Cubitt House, Canopy, Granary Square and The Crossing between 22 and 25 September.

Not to be missed during Design Junction

What: Houzz, a headline partner of Design Junction, will showcase their SmartHouzz concept around Granary Square from Thursday 22nd September until Sunday 25th September. The 40 square metre SmartHouzz pod, which has been inspired by the millions of design photos on Houzz, will show visitors how to maximise urban living space through smart design, smart use of space and smart technology.
