Mapleton Crescent SW18 by Pocket Living

Having lived in South West London (SW3 and SW6 between 2003 and 2011) and as an owner of a flat in the up and coming Sands End near Chelsea Harbour, I have become quite familiar with an area that spans all the way to Wandsworth to the South and Putney to the West. There's no denying that both have changed considerably in the last 10 years with the a new generation of buyers who want to live in London and enjoy the proximity to large shopping centres like the King's Road and W

How to make Greenery work in your home

When the good people of Pantone got together and announced Greenery as their colour of the year for 2017 a few weeks ago, the rest of us were quick to boo-hiss them. I was one of the first to do so. So shoot me. Any green with yellow undertone is not on my palette and although I tend to go for the eclectic look, this was pushing me (and a lot of people I know) waaaaay out of the comfort zone. I was never a fun of Kermit from the Muppet show (Miss Piggy did it for me). I was t

    Is green here to stay?

Move along grey here comes green. Said nobody, ever. Or did they? Green was Pantone's colour of the year in 2013 (in its emerald hue) and it is a colour that influences hotels of the moment and is strong in accessories, paint and wallpaper. Today I am looking at greens that are less "enchanted forest" and more "mystery lake" meaning moody green blues or green greys (because, simply put, grey is still big in our lives and we cannot just banish it). The psychology of green colo

    Beginners guide to Art Deco!

We're going backwards. We spent so long fixating on mid-century interiors that it only makes sense to take a few more steps back in time. Now we're entering the Modern Art Deco era. If you haven't noticed, then you probably haven't been paying attention. Easy to miss, but Art Deco is all around us! Paris now has some of the most exciting Art Deco boutique hotels like the Bachaumont and Hotel Vernet (read about them here) and the style extends to fabrics, wallpaper and accesso

    House of Holland x Habitat

I made my way to Tottenham Court Road on Wednesday after work. The weather was good and HABITAT had promised a fabulous launch party to celebrate their collaboration with Henry Holland, the affable 30-something designer of House of Holland. I had to stop for a quick Frappuccino at Starbucks across from Habitat and what can you imagine, Holland's mom, Stephanie, sat next to me with some friends she brought to the launch. Can't reveal what was said (no, I was not eavesdropping

    Patterns & Trends: Stripes

Over time I will be covering a number of trends and patterns here on the blog but today I have on of my favourite patterns: STRIPES You will see me wearing a breton top more often than I'd like to admit (plus a nice red lipstick just to go all french), with my favourite ones usually being from COS. I even wore stripes when HOMESTYLE magazine came over to shoot my home this year. It's easy to wear with jeans, skirts, skinnies, wide leg and most of the times I don't even need t

    Farrow and Ball new Colours

I am not sure how this happened but I am working on 4 posts at the same time. This has never happened before. Trying to publish one post when something comes up and throws me in a different direction altogether. This evening I was finally settled in to write a review about the new series of the Great Interior Design Challenge when the new Farrow & Ball Colours dropped like a bomb on my screen. It feels like the time I was renovating my home and I had 4 crews (well, more of on

    Colour Trends - Pantone 2016

It is two months (almost) since Pantone announced their selection for the 2016 Colour of the Year but I wanted to wait before releasing this post, to see how the world of interiors (retailers and bloggers alike) would react to their announcement, which for 2016 - for the first time - is a pair of colours. They say they're complimentary to each other, but I remain a sceptic. Complimentary means putting them together. That doesn't mean painting adjoining walls in different colo
